news 28.02.18Since the time of Ukraine's independence, about 230,000 Ukrainians have suffered human trafficking (according to IOM). Today, this problem is steel relevant for our country. Ukraine is a country of origin and destination for people who are exploited. In addition, the number of cases of human trafficking within the country is increasing.

According to the approved State Social Counter-Trafficking in Persons Program by 2020, one of the priority directions of the state in this area is "conducting informational and educational measures on informing the population about the prevention of the risk of falling into a situation of human trafficking". Among the events planned within above-mentioned State Program is the implementation of the educational program "Personal Dignity. Safety of life. Civic Position" for children aged 13-18.

The results of the implementation of the educational program and the perspectives for its further implementation became the key issue of the agenda during the all-Ukrainian seminar on prevention of human trafficking, which was organized on February 21-22 in Kyiv by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, the Delegation of the International Organization for Migration in Ukraine, and Child Well-Being Fund Ukraine. As the Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine Pavlo Hobzey said during his complimentary speech: "Personal dignity, safety of life and civic position are key words to us. Primary prevention is of high importance as generations change and new people fall into the risk zone. "

In the seminar took part representatives of the Ministry of Social Policy of Ukraine, the National Police of Ukraine, OSCE, public organizations, regional departments of education and science, regional institutes of postgraduate pedagogical education, as well as participants of the project on the implementation of the program of educational events "Personal Dignity. Safety of life. Civic Position ".

The result of the two days of work was development new ideas for the further extention of the educational program for children of 1 - 6 grades, which had not previously been covered by the program, but pedagogical staff who use the materials of the program "Personal Dignity. Safety of life. Civic Position" in their work noted such necessity.

The event was organized within the framework of the project “Implementation of Counter-Trafficking Educational Program into the Curricula of Post-Graduate Education of Teachers, phase 3”, implemented by the Child Well-Being Fund Ukraine in partnership with the International Organization for Migration (IOM) Mission in Ukraine, with the financial support of the Ministry of International Affairs of Canada with the assistance of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine.
