The report presents findings from a survey conducted in Ukraine in 2009 within a research program carried out in seven East European Countries (Bulgaria, Macedonia, Moldova, Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, and Ukraine) - in comparison with the results of a 2005 study.

The research was conducted within the program called Childhood without Violence: Toward Better Protection of Children in Eastern Europe, which has been implemented since 2005 as a five-year project coordinated by the Nobody's Children Foundation and funded by the OAK Foundation.

The main objective of the surveys was to assess public attitudes, especially those held by professionals working with children, toward the problem of child abuse, as well as professionals' experience in undertaking interventions in such cases and their evaluation of the effectiveness of child protection systems in their countries.
