The project is directed on developing resiliency skills of pre-school age children to protect themselves from sexual abuse. The project goal will be reached through the implementation of the comprehensive preventive program for kindergarten formal and informal education.
Main activities:
- conducting online trainings for specialists;
- printing and distributing informational and methodological materials for specialists, informational materials for parents and for preschool children on safe behavior rules (underwear rules);
- conducting interactive sessions on safe behavior issues for preschool children and informational sessions for their parents;
- providing consultation and informational support to educators while they implement the program.
Main results:
- 92 specialists from 17 regions of Ukraine and the city of Kyiv participated in 5 online-seminars during which they updated their knowledge about the problem of child sexual abuse and ways of its prevention; and got acquainted with the scenarios of conducting educational sessions with children in order to teach them safe behavior rules.
- In Chernivtsi 450 children of 4-6 years old were involved in the prevention program and learned safe behavior rules in order to protect themselves from sexual abuse.
- App. 4240 children from other regions of Ukraine have got knowledge about safe behavior rules and know where to seek help when necessary.
- 15 kindergartens of Chernivtsi city launched the program “Teach the Child to Protect Himself/Herself” on the issues of child sexual abuse prevention. During the reporting period 41 cycles (5 sessions per cycle) were conducted with preschool children. All kindergartens plan to continue the work on a regular basis after the end of the project
