The Project is implemented with the financial support of ChildFund Deutschland e.V., Germany

Aim of the Project: To adapt and work up the Polish practice of creating personal networks for supporting young people leaving child care institutions

Period of implementation: 2013 – 2014

Partners: Association ‘Our Home’, Poland; Family Type Children’s Home ‘Our Home’, Kirovohrad.

As a part of the implementation of the Project a three-room flat was equipped for four girls who left ‘Our Home’ Children’s Home. The girls were chosen on the basis of references and recommendations of their teachers, their willingness to work and to study, and to live in this particular flat, paying for all utilities and meeting all the terms and conditions of their contracts for living there.

At present they have been living in the flat for about a year, and already one may be absolutely certain that the Project proved to be success in this case, since the girls not just retained knowledge and skills they learned at ‘Our Home’ Family Type Children’s Home, but also acquired new ones, such as the ability to distribute properly their incomes, to use the utilities in an economical way etc.

The role of their tutor in coordinating and monitoring their activities becomes less and less prominent with each coming month, as the girls become more independent and sure of their abilities.
