The project “Healing Forest: Strengthening resilience and improving mental health among young children in Ukraine” is implemented in partnership with Barnfonden (a member of the ChildFund Alliance) and funded by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida).
Period of implementation: May 2026 – December 2027
The project aims to improve mental health and strengthen the resilience of children aged 4–7 in Ukraine during the war and post-war period through the implementation of the psychosocial “Healing Forest” programme in educational institutions.
Main activities:
- training a group of trainers from civil society organisations to further disseminate the “Healing Forest” methodology in communities;
- conducting training activities for educators on the implementation of the “Healing Forest” programme in pre-school and primary education institutions;
- conducting information sessions for parents and caregivers of participating children on children’s mental health needs and support in stressful conditions;
- providing consultative and supervisory support to professionals implementing the “Healing Forest” programme;
- delivering advocacy training for civil society representatives and local partners;
- implementing local advocacy and awareness-raising campaigns on the impact of war on children and the need to support their mental health at community level.
